A rush of requests from a number of patriotic punters has promoted Ireland’s biggest online bookmaker PaddyPower to reinstall Ireland in their outright betting for the 2010 World Cup. The Boys in Green have been reinstated at odds of 1,000/1 to win next year’s tournament with PaddyPower which is based on the French Football Federation agreeing to replay last Wednesday’s controversial qualifier, Ireland beating France and qualifying for the World Cup and then going on to win it.
Over 500 bets have been placed with PaddyPower on a replay taking place forcing the Bookmaker to slash their odds from 66/1 to 12/1 with a potential payout in excess of €25,000 should the dream replay take place.
The bookmaker said “Punters still believe that miracles can happen. Not only are they backing the replay but now they’re getting stuck into Ireland to win the World Cup. With belief and support like this maybe, just maybe, miracles can happen. C’mon Ireland!”
