The result of a comprehensive online poll has shown that Irish people are divided over the views expressed by Roy Keane about Ireland’s controversial exit form the World Cup in a recent interview on Sky Sports News.
The poll in which over 1,100 individual votes were cast over the past two days was held on paddypower.com, one of Ireland’s highest traffic online bookmaker websites. Participants in the poll were asked whether they agree or disagree with Roy Keane’s analysis of Thierry Henry’s controversial handball which led to Ireland failing to qualify for the World Cup.
When voting closed at 8am this morning 45% of participants agreed with Roy while 46% disagreed with 9% undecided. PaddyPower said “The remarkable closeness of the result illustrates that seven years after Saipan Keano still knows what buttons to push to get the country up in arms. Love him or hate you have to agree that he still knows how to start a good scrap!”
45% Yes (495 votes)
46% No (506 votes)
9% Don’t know (99 votes) |
